CALVER - A BOOK FOR THE MILLENNIUM by Julia Beswick and Eric Wilkes
Published Locally (2000)

The beauty of Calver is that it has so many secrets to be winkled out. Some of the best kept ones have now been brought together, supported by anecdotes and wonderful old photographs, in Calver A Booklet for the Millennium.

Authors Julia Beswick and Eric Wilkes have achieved an enjoyable balance between lively text and fascinating illustrations to 'paint with a broad brush a picture of Calver's past'.

Front Cover

Here are boots, bowls and beer tokens, galas, gibbons and goitres, and, we might add, not everything is black and white.

This well produced and attractive book is to be launched in the Village Hall, Calver, at 4pm on Sunday 9 April (2001).
